It’s a bustling mini-city that comes alive every night – and all but disappears as the sun rises.
More than 2,000 fruit and vegetable buyers come to Melbourne Market in the early hours to buy the fresh food that supplies Victoria’s restaurants, greengrocers and independent supermarkets. It is also home to the National Flower Centre, Victoria’s wholesale cut flower trading market.
It’s a fascinating world that plays a critical role in Victoria's food supply chain. But, as it’s not open to the public, few people get to see the market in action.
This MFWF, Melbourne Market takes you on an exclusive guided tour of the market and to meet the farmers, producers, traders and florists who work through the night to feed us every day. You'll try fruit and veg straight from the farm, eat a delicious breakfast and walk away with a Victorian produce pack for home.
