Chronicles Bar
91-93 Fitzroy Street
St Kilda, 3182
The year 1956 was big for Melbourne. It hosted the Olympics, but it also saw the birth of a trattoria titan: Leo’s Spaghetti Bar – a newfangled Italian restaurant and gelateria that would position St Kilda’s Fitzroy Street as a grand mile of culinary intrigue.
In 2024, that intrigue is now legacy, ably upheld by bars like Chronicles: a timber-clad local where we’ll begin the evening with oysters, lamb ribs, rockling burgers à la Pipis Kiosk and a flight of Joshua Cooper wines.
From there, your host with the most (and sometimes the roast), Triple R’s own Cam Smith, whisks us off to Buba Local Shuk for a slice of contemporary Middle Eastern delight, before easing us onto Bistro Volière for an all-out sweets fest featuring crème brûlée, Paris-brest, crêpe suzette and more, plus a little sticky number from Victorian dessert wine experts, Brown Brothers. Colour us famished.
