Eggs and rice. They might not sound like an automatic internet sensation. But in the talented hands of chef Motokichi Yukimura of Kyoto's Kichi Kichi, they've become a bonafide social-media phenomenon. Motokichi-san's omurice isn't just a rice omelette, it has become one of the world's bucket-list dishes. This March you'll have the chance to try it for yourself as he jets in to host a three-night pop-up at celebrated two-hat CBD restaurant Ishizuka. Savour this unique talent's culinary theatrics in an intimate, rarefied setting, with the omurice offered as the jewel in the crown of a superb menu from Ishizuka's executive chef Katsuji Yoshino.
Nestled within the artisan-inspired, subterranean venue, Ishizuka offers an immersive journey into the heart of Japan in 12 seasonal courses of kaiseki cuisine. Under the guidance of chef Yoshino, this intimate fine-dining experience accommodates just 14 guests, ensuring an exclusive and personalised culinary adventure. The interior, designed by Russell & George, embraces the principles of Japanese minimalism, reimagining the subterranean space as a luminous, airy cocoon reminiscent of a Japanese lantern.
