Are you familiar with the threads of Middle Eastern culture that are woven through the majestic tapestry of the cuisines of Mexico? Whether it's tacos árabes from Puebla, the kibbeh culture of the Caribbean coast or the role the sharwarma played in the evolution of tacos al pastor, the contribution and influence of migration from Lebanon, Iraq and beyond has enriched the food of Mexico in varied and delicious ways.
This Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, Taco Truck founder and snack enthusiast Raph Rashid teams up with hummus king Tom Sarafian to explore the meeting of these two grand culinary traditions at Wesley Place, raising the precinct's already impressive hospitality credentials even higher still. We’ll be giving you a chance to try tacos with a Lebanese accent and Mexico’s answer to kibbeh, brought to life by two friends who also happen to be two of the city’s premier snack bosses.
Are you ready for the deliciousness of tacos de canasta with prawn, potato, toum and salsa verde? How about goat kibbeh with Oaxacan cheese, labne and sumac?
And, best of all, they’re free. That’s right amigos, we’re giving these good things to you for zero dollars. No bookings taken, no tickets required, just get get on down to Wesley Place from 11am to 2pm on the day, while stocks last. Yalla, y'all.
